Glyn Newman was born in Birmingham and educated at Birmingham School of Art, Chelsea College of Art, and the University of Birmingham. After working as an artist and teacher, he moved to Prague in 1995 where he lived and worked until 2000. He returned to the United Kingdom to continue teaching art history, drawing and printmaking. He currently lives in Teignmouth, Devon.
His work addresses some of the legacies of abstraction. He explores the theme of human interaction with the natural and urban landscape, drawing reference from the figure, mechanical forms and nature.
